Unable to use * and # on GSM network that support strings such as * and #
Often times we come across blackberry that are unable to use string or dial string such as * and # on GSM network. The main reason for this, the blackberry using is a CDMA compatible device otherwise it can be use on GSM and CDMA network if possible 2G and 3G Network. Blackberry that are CDMA compatible 9530: 9630: 9550.
Inorder to use string * and # on device you required to make some adjustment to the your phone.
First go to the home screen click on your blackberry button (Menu) –> go to options –> click mobile network and a list appear with:
Data Service:::::::::::: ON\Off
Mobile Network:::::::::: Name of network on (provider)
Network Selection Mode:: Automatic\Manual
Mobile technology::::::: Globall: GSM\UMTS: 3G\2G: 2G
This is what you change to
Data Service:::::::::::: OFF
Mobile Network:::::::::: Name of network on (provider)
Network Selection Mode:: Automatic
Mobile technology::::::: GSM\UMTS: 2G
Making these changes to your device will give you the opportunity to use or dial strings such as * and # PLEASE DO A BATTERY ONCE CHANGE MADE
