Panasonic Announces The Toughpad A1 Rugged Tablet

Here is another rugged tablet from Panasonic, which is specifically designed for in the field duties. This incoming tablet feature dust and water resistance and comply with the MIL-STD-810G standard for drops. The tablet in question is the Toughpad A1. Panasonic also introduced a 7 inch Toughpad B1 which share similar durability, no info was given about the B1.

As for the Toughpad A1, that sport a 10.1-inch XGA (1024 x 768) capacitive touchscreen with anti-glare treatment which supports both finger and pen input is about 0.67-inch thick, and powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Marvell processor. The A1 comes pack with 1GB of LPDDR2 memory, 16GB o built-in storage and a microSD card slot. The device is also equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2MP front camera.

As for connectivity, the device also uses 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 4G (LTE or WiMAX), a micro USB port, a micro HDMI output as well as GPS. The Toughpad A1 will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb and a battey that can give up to 10 hours of operation per charge.

The Toughpad A1 is expected to become available this coming spring and have a start price of $1299. Both tablet is set to make their debut in 2012.
